A Workshop for Understanding Indirect Cost Recovery
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Learn how you should determine and recover the “indirect costs” of providing services for the state or federal government.
This workshop will include:
- A review of revisions to federal “cost principles” and the rules that govern what constitutes, and how to calculate, “indirect costs” for nonprofits.
- Explanation of the changes in new Office of Management and Budget uniform guidance on the use of federal funds, and how these federal changes will apply in Maryland to state-funded grants and contracts.
- Overview of Senate Bill 1045, which requires that nonprofit providers be allowed to charge at least a minimum indirect cost rate of 10%.
- Hands-on exercises based on your own organization’s activities and finances.
Who Should Attend:
Leaders and finance staff of nonprofits that have or are seeking government grants or contracts.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Beth Bowsky is the National Council of Nonprofits’ Policy Specialist for Government-Nonprofit Contracting, a role in which she combines her unique blend of nonprofit and government experience to manage the Council’s multi-year and multi-faceted program to promote fairer and simpler contracting processes and procedures across the country.
She is responsible for mobilizing advocacy efforts through broadening public support for needed policy changes in government-nonprofit contracting processes, publishing reports on best practices and solutions, managing the work of a panel of experts, and expanding a centralized public website for practitioners and researchers. Through shared learning and advocacy, Beth believes that tremendous improvements can be made in government-nonprofit contracting that will benefit all parties.
