Montgomery Moving Forward (MMF) Updates
On November 9, the Montgomery County Council is expected to introduce legislation for the creation of a public-private early care and education coordinating entity. This legislation is informed by extensively researched, community informed recommendations developed by MMF. Members of the MMF Leadership Group will be testifying in support of County Council Bill 38-21, Local Business Child Care Grant Program on November 9. Councilmembers Albornoz and Navarro are lead sponsors of the local business child care grant.
And, MMF will be presenting for the Joint Committee for Children, Youth and Families of the Maryland General Assembly on November 10th. Tune in to see the presentation.
Last month the ECE Workforce Advocacy Coalition heard from Senator King about her commitment to early care and education and focus on ensuring that Maryland’s American Rescue Plan funds best serve the needs of our state’s 0-5 aged children, families, and child care providers. Coalition members shared advocacy priorities that underscored the urgent need for improving the state’s early care and education system. ECE is a workforce, economic development, and equity priority and the Coalition looks forward to working with Senator King on this issue.
