June 30 marks the end of Nonprofit Montgomery’s 2015-2016 membership year. Thanks to the support of our members and funding partners, it has been a successful year of advocacy, programs, capacity-building, and visibility for the nonprofit sector here in Montgomery County.

Among this year’s successes:

  • FIRM Financial Leadership Institute trained 78 staff and board members at 32 county nonprofits to manage their organization for financial sustainability
  • Three FIRM Alumni programs: Working with the County, Working with Funders, and Cybersecurity

  • Directors’ Dialogue: a community conversation on County budget and policy priorities with Directors of key Montgomery County departments
  • 7th Annual Budget and Policy Debrief: an opportunity for nonprofit leaders to hear about the County budget process from elected officials
  • Workforce development nonprofit convenings. RSVP here.
  • Advocacy to the County Council for a 2% increase to base budget contracts and an increased commitment to county grants
  • Health and Human Services Advisory Committee meetings, which provided feedback on “rounding pennies,” background checks, and procurement policies
  • Twice-monthly e-news with events, job openings, and issues of critical importance to nonprofits that reaches over 1500 subscribers.
  • Action Alerts updating members on the County budget process and other breaking issues.
