What is Montgomery Moving Forward?
Montgomery Moving Forward convenes cross-sector county leaders to address complex community problems, leveraging the Collective Impact model. MMF chooses issues based on input from all sectors of the community. MMF seeks issues that are ripe for systems change, affect a large number of people, and have a disproportionate impact on families who are economically disadvantaged. A 37 member Leadership Group guides the work of MMF. The goal: economic opportunity for all and a thriving Montgomery County.
How does Collective Impact work?

How is Montgomery Moving Forward a part of Nonprofit Montgomery?
Montgomery Moving Forward is an initiative of Nonprofit Montgomery, and collective action is an integral part of our three-year strategic plan.
Recognizing that old ways of approaching difficult problems were not yielding acceptable results, Montgomery Moving Forward launched in 2013 as a cross-sector initiative of leaders coming together to collaborate and, most importantly, be an active vehicle for change.
As the “backbone” organization, Nonprofit Montgomery coordinates, manages, and facilitates all of MMF’s many moving parts. Nonprofit Montgomery is the convenor, “leading from behind” to support the work of MMF.
What is Montgomery Moving Forward working on now?
MMF’s current issue is Early Care and Education. MMF envisions a coordinated comprehensive system of early care and education for children birth to age 5 that will support two important goals: attract and retain a talented workforce of today by supporting families of young children and ensure the skilled workforce of tomorrow by addressing the growing opportunity gap.
Recently MMF released a Call to Action on Early Care and Education. Click here to read the Executive Summary and here to access the full Call to Action.
