Court Watch Montgomery’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Carolyn Hoffmann has been selected as the organization’s new Executive Director. Court Watch Montgomery reduces intimate partner violence in Maryland by ensuring victims have access to responsive justice and vital services that can stop the abuse quickly and permanently. We work towards the day when all domestic violence victims coming to court for legal protection are safe, treated with respect, and receive comprehensive legal protections that help stop their abuse. We closely monitor the court system and make our findings public. With the help of our volunteers, we have been successful in bringing about change, but there is much more to be done.

Carolyn brings with her nearly a decade of experience and expertise in domestic violence, sexual violence, victim services, and nonprofit management. Carolyn comes to Court Watch after serving as a Director at the National Center for Victims of Crime. In addition to her past roles supervising victim advocates and managing large grants, Carolyn serves as a part-time Training Supervisor for RAINN’s DoD Safe Helpline and sits on the committee for the DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP) as a subject matter expert. “I am incredibly honored to be chosen to lead Court Watch in its second decade. This organization does such meaningful work and has a great impact on court outcomes for survivors who choose to engage in the civil and criminal systems in Montgomery County. I am committed to helping Court Watch grow and thrive in its future endeavors,” said Carolyn.

“Carolyn comes with a wealth of experience that will ensure Court Watch continues to make big strides in improving how our courts handle domestic violence cases for years to come,” said Laurie Duker, Court Watch Montgomery’s co-founder and outgoing Executive Director. The Board expresses our excitement for Carolyn’s dedication to justice and passion for creating safer spaces for survivors. After a unanimous decision by Court Watch’s Board, Carolyn began the position in January 2020.
