Save the date for a meaty dive into and dialogue that Nonprofit Montgomery is organizing about how changes in the county’s workforce development and economic development systems will impact nonprofits and the communities you serve.

The County’s new workforce development system, WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. will include the workforce development functions currently within the Department of Economic Development, including the one-stop centers and youth programs and the federally mandated Workforce Development Board, in compliance with the new federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. is conducting a search for a President & CEO and has begun working on requirements and expectations for partner organizations delivering workforce development services as well as on systemic indicators of success. Also, the County is privatizing the core functions of the Department of Economic Development. This transition is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.

Nonprofit Montgomery will be hosting an informational session and dialogue on Jan 14 from 9-11am at JCA/Nonprofit Village. A detailed agenda will be available in December. Click here to preregister.

Also, WorkSource Montgomery is hosting two info sessions on its new “continuous improvement efforts and how that might affect organizations that want to do business with it.” Both sessions (12/8 from 1-3pm and 12/9 from 9-11am) will be held at the Department of Economic Development, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 800, Rockville.
