Announcing: BoardMatch Montgomery

Strong leaders make for strong organizations. While County nonprofit organizations are seeking great leaders to serve on their boards of directors, local leaders are eager to lend their expertise to benefit our community. Leadership Montgomery and Nonprofit Montgomery are pleased to team up to launchBoardMatch Montgomerya program that will prepare and match leaders for service on nonprofit boards.

We will kick off our program this fall with a pair of trainings developed by Capacity Partners–one for potential board candidates and one for nonprofits seeking new board members. Participants in these trainings will be eligible to participate in a high-touch matching process that will jumpstart the relationship between existing boards and board candidates.

Register for MORE (Metrics, Outcomes and Responsible Evaluation)

Nonprofit Montgomery’s MORE (Metrics, Outcomes and Responsible Evaluation) Training helps nonprofits learn about evaluation, and offer a deep dive into measuring impact and gauging program effectiveness.

MORE helps organizations develop strategic approaches to data collection and analysis, and guides them in developing metrics and to analyze program outcomes to improve service delivery. Participants will develop their skills and make concrete plans to measure the results of their work.

MORE will strengthen your organization’s capacity to measure results by:

  • Understanding key evaluation terminology.
  • Assessing your organization’s capacity for evaluation
  • Exploring the six steps of evaluation.
  • Identifying external data and resources to strengthen evaluation efforts.
  • Engaging in meaningful dialogue about evaluation with key county funders and government leaders.

Nonprofits attend MORE as a team of up to four people, including the executive director or a senior leader, program directors, and development staff.

Dates for MORE: October 12 & 13, 2017  (1.5 day seminar) December 7 (Booster session)

Intensive: October 12, 8:30am-5:00pm at the Universities at Shady Grove (breakfast & lunch provided) and October 13, 8:30am-12pm at the Universities at Shady Grove (breakfast provided)

More of MORE Booster Session: December 7, 2017 from 9-11:30am at The Nonprofit Village (breakfast provided).

Cost:  For Nonprofit Montgomery members the cost is $25 nonrefundable registration fee per organization. For nonmembers the cost per organization is $500.

Free Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

EveryMind has funding to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid to nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and other interested groups in Montgomery County at no cost (estimated value of $3500 per training). Youth Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour evidence-based interactive training which teaches people how to help an adolescent experiencing a mental health, addictions challenge, or mental health crisis. Tutorial on Dashboards for FIRM and MORE Graduates

A dashboard is a data visualization tool that helps you track, analyze and display data on important metrics. Dashboard can be used to show progress on important goals, and is useful for conveying financial and outcomes data. This session will help MORE and FIRM participants develop a dashboarding strategy. It includes steps for identifying key indicators and exploring what types of charts to use. The session will also demonstrate how Excel can be used to help create a dashboard.

This is a follow up session for recent participants in FIRM and MORE. The program will be held on September 14 from 9-11am.
