Facility Use Subsidy Program – Requests due Jan 1, 2016

CUPF’s new program subsidizes facility fees for classrooms, all-purpose rooms, and library meeting rooms for an activity by nonprofits that primarily serves vulnerable youth or low-income residents. This program has two application deadlines: Jan 1 and Apr 1, 2016. Information and application instructions are on the CUPF subsidy program website.

County Executive Budget Forums—Dates Announced

The County Executive will release his Recommended Operating Budget on March 15, 2016 for the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2016. The forums begin with a budget briefing by the County Office of Management and Budget, followed by a Q&A with the County Executive.

The meetings, which all begin at 7pm are:
Jan 6: Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Road, Silver Spring
Jan 11: Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda

The Department of Economic Development is being privatized and will be dissolved on April 30, 2016. All contracts will remain in effect until the end of the County’s fiscal year, June 30, 2016. FIRM Institute Registration Now Open; Early Bird Deadline 1/25

FY17 County Council and County Executive Funding Applications and Deadline

The FY17 County Council and County Executive grant application deadline is Wednesday, Jan 13, 2016. Applications must be submitted through the Online Grants Portal and should be available online.

Dec 9, 7pm: Council Office Building, 3rd floor Council Hearing Room, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville

The content will be the same at all three workshops and will include the grants process for both Council and County Executive Grants and a brief introduction to the application process.

New Report on Disconnected of Black and African American Youth in Montgomery County

Research released by the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region and Montgomery College shows that stronger social and academic supports are needed to connect Black and African American youth to education and the workforce. Changes in Workforce Development and DED: Implications for Nonprofits, Jan 14

Save the date for a meaty dive into and dialogue that Nonprofit Montgomery is organizing about how changes in the county’s workforce development and economic development systems will impact nonprofits and the communities you serve.

The County’s new workforce development system, WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. will include the workforce development functions currently within the Department of Economic Development, including the one-stop centers and youth programs and the federally mandated Workforce Development Board, in compliance with the new federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. is conducting a search for a President & CEO and has begun working on requirements and expectations for partner organizations delivering workforce development services as well as on systemic indicators of success.
