County Executive Announces 6 Year Capital Construction Budget

County Executive Leggett released his recommended $4.4 billion FY17 Capital Budget and six-year FY2017-2022 Capital Improvements Program (CIP). The budget includes nearly $1.9 billion for education, including $1.57 billion for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the highest funding level ever provided, as well as $305 million for Montgomery College. Food Stamp Changes for Residents in 2016 and Manna Food Center Event on Feb 4

Due to a recent rule change, after April 1, 2016 more than 1,500 County residents may not receive monthly Food Supplement Program benefits. The new rule states that individuals between the ages of 18-50, able to work and not living with a dependent child can only receive SNAP benefits for 3 months in a 3 year period.

Manna Food Center is hosting an information session to explain the impacts of these rules. The event will be on Feb 4 from 2-3:30pm at the Casey Health Institute in Gaithersburg. For more information about Manna Food or the event, contact Jenna.

County Executive Budget Forums—3 Meetings Left

Nonprofit leaders and staff, board members, and volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend these public forums on the county’s operating budget to share insight into community needs, and to hear the County Executive’s priorities. Click here to read the briefing.

The meetings, which all begin at 7pm are:
Jan 20: Silver Spring Civic Center, Jan 21: Mid-County Community Recreation Center, Jan 25: BlackRock Center for the Arts

The County Executive will release his Recommended Operating Budget on March 15, 2016 for the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2016. The forums begin with a budget briefing by the County Office of Management and Budget, followed by a Q&A with the County Executive.
