New OLO Report: Racial Equity Profile Montgomery County

The Office of Legislative Oversight released a new report conducted by the Jupiter Independent Research Group, “Racial Equity Profile Montgomery County.”  The objectives of the report: to provide a collection of tables on different demographic factors from various sources by race and ethnicity and to identify disparities, where relevant, between different racial/ gender groups in different categories.

2020 Census Convening for Nonprofit Leaders in Montgomery County

The Office of Community Partnerships is leading 2020 Census outreach efforts in Montgomery County and is hosting a discussion with leaders from the nonprofit community on July 11 from 5-6:30pm at the County Executive Office. The purpose is to provide information on the 2020 Census, discuss education and outreach strategies and specific messaging around the citizenship question in anticipation of the SCOTUS decision to be announced at the end of June.

As nonprofit leaders, we play a critical role in the County’s 2020 Census Campaign. Come and learn about the resources available for nonprofits to engage in the census. RSVP to Jennifer by June 28.

Montgomery County Community Organizations Active in Disaster Meeting

The Montgomery County COAD is a collaborative partnership between community stakeholders – voluntary, private and nonprofits that assists in organizing community efforts to provide needed services to community members that arise as the result of a disaster. The next meeting will be on June 13, 1-3pm at Public Safety Headquarters in Gaithersburg.

The Writer’s Center: Meeting and Event Space

The Writer’s Center welcomes the community as a meeting and event venue in Bethesda. The Writer’s Center has classroom space and large event space in its 12,000-square-foot facility. We also encourage the DC-area literary community to take advantage of The Writer’s Center for writing groups, book clubs, and readings. Free Consulting for Nonprofits from Compass

Compass grants pro bono consulting services to nonprofits that benefit the DC community. Each nonprofit client receives approximately $150,000 of strategic consulting in Board Development, Funding Strategy, Strategic Planning, Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations, or Strategic Marketing services – free of charge. County’s Report on Maternal and Infant Health

County health officials released the first Report on Maternal and Infant Health for the County. The report includes information and data on maternal and infant health topics in the county and the Department of Health and Human Services role in providing education and services to reduce adverse pregnancy-related outcomes and improve maternal and infant health among county residents.

New Report on Montgomery County Women Released
The Montgomery County Commission for Women released its 2018 Status of Women report, “A Tale of Two Counties: The Status of Women in Montgomery County.” The report describes women’s experiences through quantitative data, both to measure observable progress and trends among women over the past decade and to identify specific obstacles, gaps, and disparities that continue to create challenges for women in the County.

County Health “Fair” – Register Your Event
The Department of Health and Human Services and Healthy Montgomery is planning a county-wide health fair to recognize National Public Health Week (April 1 -7). Rather than a traditional health fair in one location, organizers are asking neighborhood associations, health organizations, schools, businesses and other government agencies to host health-related events throughout the county. Click here to register your event.

WorkSource Montgomery In Search of Partner and RFP
WorkSource Montgomery is looking for a partner to launch its summer youth program. Organizations interested should submit Expressions of Interest by January 31. WorkSource Montgomery is also soliciting proposals for a contractor to provide One-Stop Operator services in Montgomery County under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Through this RFP, WSM has allocated a maximum of $200,000 for the vendor agreement.
