Position Description

Nonprofit Montgomery is seeking a Program Coordinator to lead the implementation of the Bridging The Basics pilot program in Montgomery County. This is a contract position.

Montgomery Moving Forward (MMF), an initiative of Nonprofit Montgomery (NM), will serve as start-up incubator for a 6-month pilot program titled Bridging The Basics in Montgomery County. The Community Action Agency (CAA) is the funding entity for this effort and the funds have been made possible through a reallocation of CARES Act funds designated to support MCPS’s Head Start programs. 

The Bridging program will be focused in the 20877 zip code of Montgomery County, specifically working with the Head Start programs at South Lake, Washington Grove, and Summit Hall Elementary Schools, and their community and service partners. 

The Program Coordinator will work closely with members of the Basics Advisory Committee (BAC) and be the face of this pilot effort with implementation partners in the 20877 community.

Position Details:

This is a 40-hours/week contract position for the period of January to June 30, 2021, to start. We expect to secure funding for this position until December 2021, with possibility of continuation based on performance and funding.  The budget range for this position is $35,000 to $45,000 based on experience. 

Responsibilities:

Partner Outreach and Engagement

  • Serve as point of contact with Basics Learning Network (BLN) to ensure Montgomery County’s pilot aligns with expected practices of implementing sites involved in the Network
  • Outreach to prospective implementing partners in the 20877 area to participate in Basics Advisory Committee meetings
  • Establish and maintain contact and communication with implementing partners throughout course of the pilot effort
  • Working jointly with community partners and their Basics delivery teams, develop and adapt strategies to enroll families in the Basics Insight Text Messaging program

Training

  • Participate in Training of Trainers (TOT) and related opportunities, as appropriate, to increase knowledge of The Basics and be able to train implementation partners
  • Develop, track, and oversee training calendar for partners in 20877 community 
  • Conduct trainings for implementation partners about the Basics principles
  • Inform and/or tailor evaluation efforts for the project, working in partnership with BLN and funding partners and compile pilot-specific evaluation data to share with local stakeholders

Communication and Marketing

  • Oversee development of marketing and communication resources for local audience
  • Work with BLN, funding partners, and NM staff to develop web based home for the Basics in Montgomery County 
  • Manage tailored marketing and communications activities with partners for 20877 focus areas
  • Lead and inform weekly Basics communication for key partners at all levels
  • Develop and manage community-wide events aimed at sharing findings and lessons learned from the pilot effort

Data Collection and Reporting 

  • Keep accurate records of number and type of contacts with Basics implementation partners in focus communities 
  • Contribute to grant reporting 
  • Inform funding applications, as appropriate
  • Support pilot sustainability and transition efforts by providing pilot data to support funder outreach, report submissions, and communications with donors
  • Report on pilot efforts to BAC, funding partners, community stakeholders, among others, as appropriate

Other duties in support of Nonprofit Montgomery/MMF, as assigned.  The contractor reports to the Director, Montgomery Moving Forward (MMF).

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working in the field of early care and education in Montgomery County
  • Proven relationships with education, social services, health, and other community providers in the 20877 zip code of Montgomery County
  • Knowledge of Federal Head Start Program
  • Experience working with diverse populations; including in-person, virtually, and using print and online tools
  • In-person and online training and marketing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relations skills; Spanish skills highly desired and Amharic a plus
  • Creative, out-of-the box thinker and do-er with knack for problem solving and innovative solutions
  • Detail-oriented with attention to accuracy and excellent follow through and organizational skills  
  • Experience with starting up a new project; obtaining buy-in from community partners; and generating interest and uptake 
  • Expertise in MS Word and Google Doc applications, including PowerPoint, Excel etc. 
  • Flexibility is key and comfort with a fast moving project 
  • Must supply your own computer and have sufficient software and high speed internet access to work remotely  

Start date:

Preferred start date is February 1, 2021. Position open until filled. 

Location:

This position will be primarily virtual, where the contractor will work remotely. However, as public health guidance evolves, there might be the opportunity for office-based work.
