Health and Wellness Educational Services for Asian American Communities
Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is soliciting bids for the procurement of health and wellness educational services for Asian American Communities funding opportunities that meet the criteria listed in the solicitation. CBO and FBOs serving the Asian American community or have interest in working Asian American communities are encouraged to apply.

Impact100 Grant
Organizations apply in one of the five focus areas described below – Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Family, or Health & Wellness. Online workshops will be offered from November 30-December 18, 2020 to walk potential applicants through the application process.

MD Department of Labor: COVID-19 Layoff Aversion Fund
Designed to support small businesses undergoing economic stresses due to the pandemic by preventing or minimizing the duration of unemployment resulting from layoffs. The award (up to $50,000 per applicant), will be a quick deployable benefit and customizable to the specific needs of your business to minimize the need for layoffs.

MD Department of Health: Promoting Community Health Resources RFP
Supporting innovative, replicable, and sustainable projects that serve vulnerable populations and promote health equity​ is the grants program of the CHRC. The program will award grants to community health resources serving Maryland residents.

The Community Development Block Grant Program is a federal grant for housing and community development projects that benefit low and moderate-income persons. Rockville is accepting applications for an anticipated $263,000 in federal CDBG funds it will receive in fall 2022. CDBG money can be used to provide grants to housing providers for housing and community development projects that benefit low- and moderate-income households or neighborhoods. Applications are due 10/23.

Children’s Opportunity Fund
The Children’s Opportunity Fund is focused on funding innovation opportunities that close the achievement gap in Montgomery County. Applicants must submit a proposal via The Community’s Foundation’s online application system no later than 4pm on October 26. Click here for more info.

Community Action Awards, part of the three-part VoicesDMV initiative, are small grants of up to $2,000 for individuals and nonprofits in Greater Washington working to make our region a more equitable place for everyone to live, work, and thrive. Deadline: 11/2

Reopen Montgomery Small Business Grants Still Available
Lotteries will be conducted on a rolling basis until 30-days after the County enters Phase 3 Reopening, or the funding is expended. This grant program is funded by the CARES Act, and must be used by December 31, 2020. Click here for more info.

MSAC Creativity Grants: Creativity Grant Overview The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland.

Many Hands DC Grant  
Many Hands DC will accept applications for its 2021 grant cycle starting October 1. All applications must be submitted online and are due by November 2. Many Hands is a women’s grantmaking organization that supports area nonprofits that serve women, children, and families in socioeconomic need through programs in the areas of economic empowerment, education, health, and housing. Click here for more information.

Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County 
Arts Residencies in Schools Grants (ARSG) is now accepting applications for Fiscal Year 2021! ARSG support individual teaching artists trained in curriculum-based art techniques to serve students that have limited access to arts education experiences throughout the school year. The award amounts for ARSG range from $1,000 to $6,000. Classes can be virtual or in-person, following the socially distant guidelines required by the county. Challenged Athletes Foundation
CAF’s flagship grant program aims to remove the barriers that exist between adaptive athletes and their pursuit of sport and fitness. Individuals worldwide with permanent physical disabilities are eligible to apply for the CAF grant. Teams, organizations, etc. are not eligible to apply. Medical documentation of disability is required.

Maryland Data Center Energy Efficiency Grant Program
This grant is designed to support Maryland’s robust and growing information technology sector. The DCEEG provides funding on a competitive basis to encourage the implementation of cost-effective energy efficiency technologies in data centers throughout the State. Grant awards will range from $20,000 to $200,000 per eligible project, subject to funding availability.

Maryland FY21 Low-to-Moderate Income Energy Efficiency Grant
The Maryland Energy Administration’s (MEA) Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) grant program ​will be implemented competitively on a regional basis for state fiscal year 2021 (FY21). With a budget of $6.5 million, the program is designed to support energy efficiency projects and activities for low-to-moderate income (LMI) Marylanders.

City of Rockville Community Development Block Grant Program
The 2022 CDBG Funding application is now open. Application instructions and the application can be downloaded here. The Community Development Block Grant Program is a federal grant for housing and community development projects that benefit low and moderate-income persons. Rockville is accepting applications for an anticipated $263,000 in federal CDBG funds it will receive in fall 2022. CDBG money can be used to provide grants to housing providers for housing and community development projects that benefit low- and moderate-income households or neighborhoods. Fiscal Year 2022 grants will fund projects during July 1, 2021-June 30, 2022.

County Rental Assistance 
Montgomery County will relaunch a COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program for tenants who meet eligibility requirements. The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) will administer the program and accept applications and supporting documents from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18 through 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31. Applications will be reviewed using a random selection method from the final pool of applications received by the deadline.

Maryland Nonprofit Recovery Initiative (NORI)
The State of Maryland will begin accepting applications for the second round of the Maryland Nonprofit Recovery Initiative (NORI) on Wednesday, August 12. The second round has EXPANDED ELIGIBILITY to include nonprofits of any size and with budgets over $5 million. Eligible nonprofit organizations can receive up to $50,000 in grant assistance for operational support. Click here for for more information, including eligibility requirements and application guidelines.

Athleta/Movement Foundation Grant Programs
Financial grants ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 to female, women of color entrepreneurs and organizations committed to making wellness and fitness more inclusive to female BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) communities.
Covid-19 Financial Relief Grants to fitness and wellness instructors. Up to $1,000 to teachers and instructors who are in need of tools and resources to bring their new digital business idea to life.
Movement-based grants to a variety of young female athletes, from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who require additional resources for mental, physical and emotional coaching.

Nonprofit, Interest-Free, Micro Bridge Loan Account (NIMBL)
This interest-free, micro bridge loan program and fund supports the operations of nonprofit entities. The program is administered by the Maryland Nonprofit Development Center and the Maryland Department of Commerce. The program provides short-term financing support to qualifying nonprofit entities between the award date of a government contract and the actual receipt date of those awarded funds. Click here for more info.

Arts Covid Relief Fund Town Hall – Application Launch

FACES Grant, Due September 4
The FACES (Freeman Assists Communities with Extra Support) program is designed to find and fund the smaller, overlooked projects in our neighborhoods – and grants are limited to nonprofit organizations with operating budgets of $500,000 or less in Sussex County, DE, or $750,000 or less in Montgomery County, MD. Applications are due by September 4.

Next Gen Giving Circle (NGCC)
NGCC just announced the first grant funding opportunity, providing support for small, community-based organizations (incl. nonprofits, mutual aid groups, etc. with budgets up to $500K) supporting Greater Washington Region residents facing housing and/or food insecurity. This might include:

  • Prevention of evictions and foreclosures related to the economic distress of COVID-19, direct financial assistance for individuals/families, legal aid, and case management; or
  • Food and grocery assistance, community food pantries, school feeding programs, and grocery drop offs.

Applications for the grants (2-3 to be awarded) up to ~$10K are due Sept. 3, 2020, and more info can be found here.

Maryland COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant Fund for 501(c)(6) Nonprofits
To support Maryland’s nonprofit 501(c)(6) organizations facing financial impacts from the novel coronavirus, the Maryland Department of Commerce in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) have established the Maryland COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant Fund for 501(c)(6) Nonprofits with $1 million of federal CARES Act funding.

The grant will provide financing to organizations experiencing economic stresses in order to mitigate potential layoffs or organizational closures due to COVID-19. Eligible organizations may apply for funding up to $10,000. We will accept applications starting August 17 through August 24. Click here for more info.

Provider Relief Fund: New Applications Being Accepted
HHS recently announced that eligible providers can submit their application for funds from the Provider Relief Fund. Examples of eligible Medicare/Medicaid/CHIP/dental providers include:

  • Providers who did not receive an initial payment that totals approximately 2 percent of their annual patient revenue.
  • Providers who did receive an initial payment, but missed the June 3rd deadline to submit their revenue information.
  • Providers who were ineligible for prior General Distribution funds due to a change in ownership or because they did not have Medicare fee-for-service revenue in 2019.
  • Providers who previously received Phase 1 General Distribution payment(s), but rejected and returned the funds and are now interested in reapplying.

All eligible providers will only receive funding of up to 2 percent of their reported total revenue from patient care.  The deadline for applying for funds is August 28, 2020. For the latest information on the Provider Relief Fund Program, visit: hhs.gov/providerrelief.

Evidence for Action: Approaches to Advance Gender Equity From Around the Globe: 2020 Call for Proposals
The goal of this funding opportunity is to translate and adapt knowledge from around the world to the United States on approaches that can improve health or the determinants of health by improving gender equity. Applications due August 26.

Nonprofit and Community Organizations Eviction Prevention Overview

In collaboration with the county departments of Health and Human Services and Housing and Community Affairs, The Renters Alliance of Montgomery County will host a webinar about developing County supports for renters who are behind on their rent. These supports are being offered in the context of COVID, with an estimated 13,000 renters in Montgomery County at risk of losing their homes for failure to pay rent.
