BoardMatch Montgomery, a collaboration between Nonprofit Montgomery, Leadership Montgomery, and Capacity Partners, helps nonprofit organizations recruit effective and engagedboard candidates to serve on their boards of directors. BoardMatch recruits and trains potentialboard members and matches them with nonprofits.

BoardMatch Montgomery benefits nonprofit organizations by:

The Primary Care Coalition is exploring the health and housing relationship in two parts – from the existing interventions that mitigate health/housing problems to big ideas for integrative solutions. Two informative half-day sessions will explore the impact of stable and affordable housing on health outcomes.

Session One: September 17 
Peter Edelman will walk us through his new book Not a Crime to Be Poor, in which he examines the socio-political influences that have led to the criminalization of poverty.

Session Two: October 15
We’ll explore the role quality, affordable housing plays in the health of residents and look at ways to form strategic links between housing and health systems.

Every conversation with an employee can be an opportunity for managers to engage, coach, and guide. Performance excellence depends on those conversations being meaningful. Kelly Collins, Director of Human Resources, EveryMind and member of the Board of Directors, Society of Human Resource Management, Montgomery County will lead us in discussing best practices in conducting annual performance reviews as well as addressing performance issues.

We’ll also:  

• Identify opportunities for communications that inspire and engage
• Discuss a framework for incremental and annual performance conversations
• Examine the key elements of a performance improvement process
• Work through some common challenges and scenarios.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness’ 10th Annual Montgomery County VisionWalk is on Sunday, September 22 from 9-2pm at Rockville Town Square. The VisionWalk is a family-friendly event that attracts hundreds of attendees and participants who are passionate about finding a cure to blinding retinal diseases. Click here to register or for sponsorship information.

The City of Rockville will hold three candidate forums hosted by community groups. Community members are invited to attend:

• 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive. Presented by the League of Women Voters.
• 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive. Presented by the Rockville Chamber of Commerce.
• 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway. Presented by Twinbrook Village in association with Twinbrook Community Association.
