Walt Whitman High School is starting a new program called the Leadership Academy for Social Justice (LASJ). LASJ courses are rooted in personal development and intercultural skills while building on communication and thinking skills. Students in the program will participate in courses such as an Introduction to Social Justice, Women’s Studies, LGBTQ+ Studies, African-American Studies, Media in Society, and an internship program.
The program is looking to partner with local and regional organizations to provide meaningful internships for students. Through these internships, students will be able to apply their knowledge of social justice issues and advocacy skills to real-world experiences. If your organization is interested in partnering with Walt Whitman High School, please contact Sheryl Freedman, LASJ Lead Teacher.
