In honor of Memorial Day, Nonprofit Montgomery wanted to share with you the work that the Mental Health Association has been doing with our veteran population. Thank you to all who have served our community and country.
With thanks,
Brigid Howe
PS. We’d also like to recognize Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless for their work in ending veteran homelessness in our county.
“Have you or a family member ever served in the Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves?” This essential question should be part of the intake process at any human service organization. Why? Because your clients may be missing out on quality resources programs and resources that are available to only those who have served in the Armed Forces.
Serving Together, a program of the Mental Health Association:
- connects military, veterans, and their families to local resources and programs,
- help providers understand the needs of veterans through workshops and consultations,
- help veterans and family members directly through our Veteran and Family Peer Navigator which assesses veteran situations and connects them to the resources that best fit their needs.
When a new client walks through your door don’t forget to ask: “Have you or an immediate family member ever served in the Armed Forces, National Guard, or Reserves?” For more information about Serving Together call 1-855-738-7176.
